Gurgling drains signal a partial blockage or venting problem in your drain system.
The gurgling sound is air moving through water in the drain line. When a drain is partially blocked, water flowing through the narrow passage creates a vacuum that pulls air from nearby traps — and that air movement through the water is the gurgle you hear.
Gurgling from a single drain (typically in the bathroom when the toilet flushes) usually indicates a partial blockage in the line serving that fixture. Gurgling from multiple drains simultaneously, or from a drain you are not currently using, points to a main line issue.
Gurgling can also indicate a venting problem — a blocked or improperly functioning drain vent allows air pressure imbalances that cause the same sound. A camera inspection can show us the condition of the drain line; vent issues require a plumber.
