What Is Hydro Jetting Used For?

What Is Hydro Jetting Used For? — Answered by Sunburst Environmental, Metro Atlanta’s drain jetting specialists.

Hydro jetting is used to clear blockages and clean buildup from drain and sewer lines.

Specifically, hydro jetting effectively removes: grease and fat buildup (the most common issue in both residential kitchens and restaurant lines), root intrusion (it cuts through roots with high-pressure water), mineral scale and calcium deposits, sand and sediment, soap scum and paper buildup, and general debris that accumulates over time.

It’s also used for preventive maintenance — jetting a line before it fully blocks to keep flow at full capacity. Many commercial properties schedule regular jetting the same way they schedule HVAC maintenance.

What hydro jetting cannot fix: structural problems. If a pipe is collapsed, cracked, offset, or deteriorated past the point of function, jetting will not repair that. That’s why we always camera inspect first — to confirm the pipe is in good enough shape to jet, and to understand exactly what we are clearing before we start.
