High-pressure water jetting uses pressurized water to clean the interior of pipes.
The equipment consists of a pump (which pressurizes the water), a high-pressure hose, and a jetting nozzle. The nozzle typically has multiple jets — one or more pointing forward (to penetrate blockages) and several pointing backward (to clean the pipe walls as the hose is pulled back through).
Pressure is measured in PSI (pounds per square inch). Residential applications typically use 1,500–3,500 PSI. Commercial and industrial applications can go higher. The flow rate (gallons per minute) matters as much as pressure — it determines how much material is flushed out.
The process cleans the full interior of the pipe, not just creates a path through a blockage. After jetting, a pipe’s interior should be close to original diameter, with the accumulated grease, scale, or debris flushed downstream.
