Jetting your drains before selling is not required, but a camera inspection is worth strongly considering.
Buyers are increasingly requesting sewer scope inspections as part of the home inspection contingency — especially in Metro Atlanta, where many homes have older pipe materials. If a buyer’s inspector finds root intrusion, scale buildup, or a pipe in poor condition, it becomes a negotiating point that can delay or kill the deal.
Getting a camera inspection before listing gives you the information in advance. If the pipe is clean, you can disclose it as an asset (‘recent sewer camera inspection — footage available’). If there is an issue, you can address it before it becomes a buyer’s leverage point.
Whether to jet before selling depends on what the camera shows. If the line has significant buildup or root intrusion, jetting it before the buyer’s inspection makes sense. If it is clean, you may not need to.
