Yes — hydro jetting is safe for PVC pipes when done correctly.
PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is the most common pipe material in residential construction since the 1980s. It’s smooth-walled, resistant to corrosion, and handles jetting pressure well at normal residential settings (1,500–3,000 PSI). It’s actually easier to jet than older materials because the smooth walls do not hide buildup the way rough clay or corroded cast iron can.
The camera inspection confirms the PVC is in good condition before we jet. If there is a visible crack, a joint that is pulled apart, or deterioration from improper installation, we address that before applying pressure.
One note: PVC comes in different grades and wall thicknesses. Schedule 40 (standard residential) and Schedule 80 (heavier duty) both handle jetting well. Thin-wall or improperly installed PVC that is already stressed can be vulnerable — which is another reason the camera look matters.
