Light to moderate mineral scale (calcium carbonate deposits) responds well to hydro jetting. High-pressure water breaks the scale loose from the pipe wall and flushes it out. The rotating nozzle design helps scrub the pipe circumference.
Heavy scale — where buildup has significantly narrowed the pipe or hardened into a thick layer — may require descaling (mechanical chain knockers or cutting heads) before jetting is fully effective. The camera inspection tells us which situation we are dealing with.
Mineral scale is more common in areas with hard water. In the Metro Atlanta area, water hardness varies by source — some municipalities have harder water than others.
