Hydro jetting uses a high-pressure pump, specialized hose, and purpose-built nozzles.
The pump: trailer-mounted or truck-mounted for professional use, typically diesel-powered. It pressurizes water to 2,500–4,000+ PSI and pumps it through the hose at controlled flow rates (commonly 4–18 gallons per minute). Higher flow rate + higher pressure = more cleaning power.
The hose: semi-rigid high-pressure hose in lengths of 150–300 feet or more. Flexible enough to navigate bends and turns in the line, rigid enough to push forward under pressure.
The nozzles: this is where the specificity comes in. Different nozzles for different jobs — rotating nozzles for general cleaning, root-cutting nozzles with sharp jets angled to slice through root masses, penetrating nozzles for tight blockages, and flushing nozzles for moving material downstream. Using the wrong nozzle for the job reduces effectiveness.
