Yes — there can be odor during and after hydro jetting, especially for grease or sewage blockages.
When we break up and flush a grease blockage or sewage accumulation, the material releases odor as it is disturbed. This is expected and temporary. The smell is strongest at the cleanout access point while jetting is in progress. After the jetting is complete and the line is flowing again, the smell dissipates.
Good ventilation during the job helps — open windows if jetting is being done indoors or close to an interior access point. The technician will manage the cleanout to minimize odor release into the space.
If there is a persistent sewage smell in your house AFTER jetting is complete and the drain is flowing normally, that is a separate issue worth investigating — a dried trap (common in unused floor drains), a cracked sewer vent pipe, or a loose toilet wax ring.
