Yes — hydro jetting cuts through tree roots effectively.
High-pressure water from a jetting nozzle (with a specialized root-cutting tip) slices through root masses and flushes the debris out of the line. For moderate root intrusion — roots that have entered the pipe but have not caused structural damage — jetting clears them completely and restores full flow.
The important caveat: jetting removes the roots that are inside the pipe. It does not kill the roots at their source. Roots grow back — especially fast-growing species common in North Georgia like sweetgums, willows, and some oaks. After jetting, we will tell you the rate of regrowth risk and whether you should consider follow-up maintenance on a schedule.
If roots have been growing long enough to crack the pipe or cause it to offset or collapse, that is a different situation — jetting will not fix structural damage. The camera inspection tells us which scenario we are dealing with before we start.
