Do I Need a Cleanout for Drain Jetting?

Do I Need a Cleanout for Drain Jetting? — Answered by Sunburst Environmental, Metro Atlanta’s drain jetting specialists.

A cleanout makes jetting easier and more effective — but is not always required.

If you have a cleanout, that is our preferred access point. It’s direct, clean, and gives us the best angle for both the camera and the jetter.

If you do not have a cleanout, we have options: access through a toilet (the toilet is removed temporarily, the camera and jetter go in through the flange, and the toilet is reset), through a floor drain, or through a roof vent stack in some situations.

Working without a cleanout adds time and complexity. In some cases, if the line is severely blocked and access is limited, we may recommend a plumber install a cleanout first. It’s a one-time cost that makes every future service faster and less invasive.
