Choose a drain jetting company based on transparency, process, and conflict of interest.
The most important question: do they camera inspect before they jet? Any company willing to run a jetter into a pipe they have not looked at is cutting corners. You do not know what is in there, they do not know what is in there, and if the pipe is compromised, the jetting can cause damage.
Second: do they have a conflict of interest? Plumbing companies that also sell pipe repair and replacement have a financial incentive to find problems that need repairs. A dedicated drain jetting specialist who does not do repairs has no incentive to recommend one — the diagnosis is honest by default.
Third: do you get the footage? The camera inspection video is documentation of what was found. A company that will not provide it — or charges extra for it — is treating the inspection as a black box. You should see exactly what they saw.
Ask: What’s your process before jetting? Do I get the footage? What happens if you find something you cannot fix? The answers tell you a lot.
